Up before the beak

Dear Spurtle team

The big black gull-proof container bags were used in Great King Street yesterday for the first time.

They can take three full black plastic bin bags, and have two handles, a tying strip, and a top flap with a velcro fastening.

While the Council suggest tying them to the railings as an option, it is in fact an essential (because, once emptied, unsecured bags blow about the street). The more proprietorial residents are marking their own bags in white paint.

This morning only four gull-proof bags along the whole street have been left unclaimed tied to railings; a modest success, so far, then.

All best,

Anne Seaton
