LEITH WALK – ENOUGH ALREADY!

Yet another Leith Walk sign has been erected affirming yet again the respect and affection in which Edinburgh-super-mare is held by its citizens.

Lord Provost George Grubb unveiled it at the corner of Pilrig Street on 13 September.

This latest addition is comparatively calm and appealing. Designer Noel Spence says the flags at the bottom spell out (to no-one's great surprise) I LOVE LEITH.

Personally, we think the blizzard of lamppost-mounted billets-doux has begun to cloy, or at least protest too much. In any case, is it not now time for southward-facing drivers to enjoy alternative signs celebrating Broughton's distinct and proudly maintained identity?

How about marking long-standing local entertainment associations with the slogan BROUGHTON SAYS RELAX?
