Local athlete Kimberley Reed is progressing almost faster than we can report it.

Since featuring in Issue 183, she has won gold in the Girls B Hammer at the Scottish Schools Championships in Grangemouth on 11 June, not only winning her age group, but beating all other female competitors with a personal best of 46.98 metres.

This makes her 4th in the UK at under-17 level and 10th in the UK at under-20 level. She's also first in Scotland for her age group, and second at under-20.

On 12 June she competed in the Discus and was winning with a personal best throw of 32.04 metres before being pipped to the gold by 13 cms.

That Saturday she was also awarded the Allan Quaich for Excellence in Hammer, which is the trophy presented to the best overall thrower at the championships regardless of gender.

The icing on the cake came on 13 June when she won silver in the Hammer,  under-20 Open Scottish Championships.

As a result, Kimberley has now been selected to compete for Scotland in Discus and Hammer against Wales, England and Ireland at next month's schools international in Glasgow. She may also be selected for the Celtic Games International in August, and is scheduled to represent Scotland at Hammer in the UK Schools Games in Gateshead in September.
