In the aftermath of the Council elections, a pothole in Bellevue Road has spoken out about being ignored by politicians.
'I'm devastated,' Phil McAverty told Spurtle's David Sterratt. 'It took a lot of effort to get to be three feet deep. I was fully expecting a queue of candidates wanting to have their photos taken with me, but not one did, not even a Lib Dem'.
'They could have extended the hand (or entire arm) of friendship into me, but what did they do? Resurface East Scotland Street Lane and talk about Leith Walk.
'There's a gaping hole inside me. I don't feel in control of my emotions any more, and I'm worried I might do something out of character like swallowing a pedestrian.'
However, there is a silver lining (sadly, metaphorical only). News of the pothole's plight has spread, and a team of speliologists from Yorkshire is now planning to explore Phil McAverty and any associated cave networks. 'We're hoping to see if there's a connection to the Leith Walk System,' said their leader.
A Council spokesperson said that in the normal course of events, the pothole could have expected to be filled by left-over election posters, but there are none available due to a change in the regulations.
