BIG ISSUES FOR BLENHEIM PLACE

Cornerstone Property Development, the people behind recent proposals for 7–8 Baxter's Place, now seek permission to change the use of the former Royal Bank of Scotland at 2–3a Blenheim Place (Ref. 18/02357/FUL).

They propose a 7-bedroom hostel (number of beds as yet unspecified) on 3 floors, with the basement containing storage, a laundry, kitchen, cinema room and communal area. To Spurtle’s untutored and antisocial eye, the last two look  like potentially excellent party venues.

Given the complex misgivings surrounding Cornerstone’s other recent adventure in the adjacent building at 7–8 Baxter's Place (Breaking news, 4.6.18 and 6.6.18), and given similar issues concerning adjacent residential dwellings, we urge local councillors and the Development Management Subcommittee to monitor this new application very carefully indeed.
