BROUGHTON DATE FOR FAMILY HALLOWEEN

Submitted by Editor on

The Broughton Project Group (BPG) has announced plans for a green Family Halloween event on 31 October.

It will take place in the Barony Community Garden (see map below) from 4–7pm, and involve fancy dress, games, children and pumpkins. Bring your own, pre-carved, and set light to them in the dark. (Organisers can supply candles.)

BPG began in 2004 as locals' way of promoting horticulture, advancing education on the natural environment, and promoting the well-being of Broughton residents.

Visible achievements have included the Broughton Road playground, the Barony Community Garden (May Queen pictured right at the opening), and the tubs by the bus stop outside the Stafford Centre on Broughton Street.

The last couple of years have been quiet, but a recent influx of new faces, interest and energy has revitalised the group.

Meg Nelson – addressing the New Town and Broughton Community Council last night – said BPG hope the Halloween event will attract even more members, and provide an opportunity to promote its new Facebook page which is expected to go live very soon.
