COMMUNITY COUNCIL SEEK NEW VOICES

Some 22 people attended the New Town and Broughton Community Council's AGM and ordinary meeting last night – either attracted by presentation of new plans for McDonald Road, or making a special effort to support the lowest but still important rung on the democratic ladder.

In keeping with other community councils across the city, NTBCC's elections have been set back until September 2013. But they are keen to coopt up to 5 new members now who could get a feel for the scope and tone of the council's work before seeking more permanent election next year. NTBCC is open to fresh blood and new ideas, so now is an ideal time to join.

You don't need any special qualifications to become involved apart from living locally and being on the electoral register. It would be useful if you had an interest (or were prepared to acquire one) in: Planning, Licensing, the local Environment, Transport and any other issues of public concern which could usefully be expressed to officials and city councillors.

The next meeting will be held on 6 August (venue to be confirmed), but you can also make contact or ask questions at: secretary@ntbcc.org.uk
