Tesco Stores Ltd has now applied for listed building consent to complete a new shopfront and automatic doors, a level ramped entrance, a protective pedestrian barrier, external roof plant to the rear, and internal retail fit-out at 30–30a Dundas Street (Ref. 14/02746/LBC).
Unfortunately, at this stage the plans are not very detailed or informative. The rooftop changes do not look too bad as far as we can make out.
The Category B-listed property’s current use, says Tesco, is vacant retail, even though And So to Bed are still trading there and last week had not received any notice to quit.
No detailed proposals for – or artistic impressions of – the Dundas Street and rear elevations are currently available online.
Oddly, the proposed internal arrangements appeared online last week in a separate application to install an ATM machine (see Breaking news, 22.7.14).
