Artisan Roast's questionable scientific explanation yesterday for the origin of coffee has provoked mixed reactions among Spurtle readers.

Most suggest it potentially leaves an unpleasant taste in the mouth.

Fortunately, the Broughton Street A-board's obverse design offers  a crumb of comfort.

Whatever coffee's first mysterious ingredients may be, they are apparently not human: 'I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob' etc.

Sighs of relief all round.
