PLANNING UPDATE – 27.9.10

Submitted by Editor on Tue, 28/09/2010 - 16:29

Not a lot of planning news to report this week in Broughton, although one application did catch the eye.

Permission is sought to replace 64 windows at 16 Abercromby Place (Ref. 10/02658/FUL). We realise some New Town residences are generously proportioned, but 64 windows! How much daylight do these people need?

Spurtle investigated, and from the front elevation (pictured right) found little to explain the mystery. From the rear, however, it's another matter. Nos 15 and 16 were completely gutted behind their facades in 1966, and replaced with this attractive modern replacement currently occupied by Halcrow (below).

Halcrow describe themselves as 'delivering planning, design and management services for developing infrastructure and buildings worldwide'. Just the people you want to sort the windows out.
