I am a grandfather with a lively 2-year old. Over the summer I have been filling in large gaps in railings across the New Town with long, strong cable ties and a pair of pliers. A small child could easily slip through these gaps. The drop into some of the basements is scary in the extreme.
I bought a pack of 100 Large Cable Ties for about £13 from Screwfix … it would be good if you could encourage other like-minded parents and grandparents to do the same as many residents and businesses who should be responsible for maintaining their railings fail to do so.
Sometimes, if you want something sorted you are better to do it yourself, and the more people taking direct, positive action the better.
