Unfair fare

Dear Editor

Whilst many travellers will be glad to see that Lothian Buses are to encourage use of their Night Bus services by allowing holders of Ridacard season tickets to travel free and introducing discounted day/night ticketing, this elation won't extend to their many disabled or elderly customers.

Holders of the National Concession card who travel free during the day will still be expected to pay in full for any travel on Night Buses. Is this yet another manifestation of the Nanny State, with elderly and disabled people discouraged from having late nights out and being shunted off to bed early with a cocoa for their own good?

Yours
