AMMA – THE UNDERGROUND ART CONTINUUM

Submitted by Editor on

Meet James Craig Page: self-taught artist, pop-up speakeasy host and clairvoyant medium.

Page is normally based in Dunbar, but during the Festival period you can find him in a cellar below Dofo’s on Blenheim Place.

Here he is exhibiting his paintings by day, alongside an occasional vintage clothes boutique; and by night welcoming musicians, poets, performers and other thirsty free spirits from the Church of Gloss until 5am.

The event venue is called Amma, after the deity of the Dogon tribe in Mali.

Page became interested in these people’s culture when he discovered that extra-terrestrials called the Nomos had visited them many years ago and revealed the existence of Sirius B and the DNA double-helix long before they were known to Western civilisation.

With the help of a muse, and through a process of  ‘shamanic channellings’, Page contacted Amma. The works on display here are the result. Since becoming aware of Her, he says, many good things have fallen into place.

His paintings are hard to photograph in the half-light of the cellar space, but pictured right is his 'Energised Flow'.

You can see other examples of his work on the website here.
