CITY PLANNERS CONSULT ON ACCESSIBILITY

Submitted by Editor on

Draft revisions have been made to Edinburgh Planning Guidelines about Accessibility in the Built Environment. They can be seen (highlighted in yellow) at www.edinburgh.gov.uk.

As well as bringing the guidelines up to date with current legislation and policy, the changes try to simplify explanations of statutory requirements such as the Disability Discrimination Act, and to clarify the scope of the guidance as it affects design of new developments.

There are minor additions to guidance on altering the 'historic environment', some trimming of material available elsewhere, and links to City of Edinburgh Council and other sources of information.

Those interested have until 6 August to comment, either by email to alison.morris@edinburgh.gov.uk or in writing to Alison Morris, Planning, Waverley Court, 4 East Market Street, Edinburgh EH8 8EU.
