@theSpurtle Couple of minor updates - Picardy Pl is open now, and no sign of the temp lights Leith Walk / Pilrig St junction, yet!

@theSpurtle @edintravel i'd genuinely like to read/hear a justification for planning so many works at the same time (in such a small area).

Jon Jon ‏@looseinstincts

@theSpurtle bit misleading - a lot of those have no meaningful effect on traffic and two refer to the same bit of road!

 Broughton Spurtle ‏@theSpurtle
@looseinstincts On the other hand, they all appear on a CEC webpage headed 'Traffic disruptions'!

@theSpurtle ha! I suppose I mean "through traffic" then

@theSpurtle Ahem, you forgot No16. Too many folk using cars and not alternatives.

Jon ‏@looseinstincts

@Protonmale @theSpurtle yeah. I've been experiencing very little delay on my bike! (although Union Street cobbles are bumumumumpppyyyy)

Lorraine Moore Ughhhhhh the traffic is so slowwwww at the top of Broughton street/ omni roundabout!

@RicksterScale @theSpurtle @edintravel it's a bit misleading - many refer to same work, not happening at same time or don't affect traffic

Jon ‏@looseinstincts

@RicksterScale @theSpurtle @edintravel and tbh I'd prefer lane closures were combined - less effect overall than dragging it out over ages

@looseinstincts @theSpurtle @edintravel I'm not bothered about the length of the list. I can see how much work is going on with my own eyes.

Rickster ‏@RicksterScale

@looseinstincts @theSpurtle @edintravel perhaps. I'd genuinely appreciate a wee bit more transparency on the overall works/justification.

Jon ‏@looseinstincts

@RicksterScale @theSpurtle @edintravel well they seem pretty transparent about the causes and I guess gas main renewal can't wait until 2020

RicksterRickster ‏@RicksterScale

@looseinstincts@theSpurtle@edintravel I don't argue with the need. Just the short term timing in such a v small area. Frustrating is all.

@looseinstincts@theSpurtle anyway. Nowt we can do about it but moan and leave home a wee bit earlier i suppose! And check @edintravel!

 Ewan ‏@you_in

@RicksterScale @looseinstincts @theSpurtle another factor in the problem is the embargo of new works during August. Forces a rush in Sept.

@you_in Is 'embargo' an actual thing or conspiracy theory? Can see it makes sense at busiest time despite knock-on effect. @RicksterScale

@theSpurtle @RicksterScale as far as I've seen it very real. Leith St was chaos bc High St/Fest. Any additional works would further compound

@RicksterScale@theSpurtle@edintravel well quite! I guess when you have one or two long running works, anything else seems like a lot

@RicksterScale@theSpurtle@edintravel although the bike is my preferred traffic beating solution!

Broughton Spurtle Broughton Spurtle ‏@theSpurtle

@looseinstincts@RicksterScale@edintravel Might need to hold your breath. Air quality not great in these slow-moving snarl-ups.

@theSpurtle@RicksterScale@edintravel I don't notice an effect myself but air quality is a scandal. LEZ can't come soon enough

JonJon ‏@looseinstincts

@theSpurtle@RicksterScale@edintravel (god knows what it's doing to my lungs without me noticing)

@theSpurtle the reason Edinburgh is jammed up is cars.

William Kay William Kay ‏@wkontime

@skylinefilmtv @theSpurtle Spot on. But they all blame it on trams. Funny thing is elsewhere trams rarely hold up cars, just Edinburgh.

@looseinstincts @RicksterScale @theSpurtle Interesting to see our list in a totally different format! I think we could streamline it a bit..

EdinburghTravelNews ‏@edintravel

@looseinstincts@RicksterScale@theSpurtle ...although that wouldn't do anything to address the number of cones :)

It's not just Leith, the South Side to ERI is a series of roadworks & closures.

AndyCowan-HeartyLad ‏@andycowan2013

@theSpurtle @edintravel just look at state of the roads.............another great job by edinburgh coucil......nottttttttttttttttttt!!!

Harry Beale Collins parking restrictions should have been lifted?.

Sandra Elgin It was murder all the way down Broughton Street - awful!

Gareth Hill Got caught in Broughton St tonight. Didn't move for 20 mins !

Erzsebet Bohacsi Beautiful Edinburgh!!!!

Piotr Mazurek Tam na rogu za krzakami kupowałem taniego Grolsha

Right there in the corner behind the bushes I bought cheap grolsha
Broughton Spurtle Thank you for that alternative perspective.
Graeme Douglas it's a bottleneck with the trams, the light sequence at York place and now all the roadworks they decide to do all at once around the same area. shocking, and it's only going to get worse
Suzanne Lindsay I get roadworks, for the most part, have to happen, but what infuriates me is driving past roadworks and not a soul to be seen 'working'. The excuse of excess noise pollution and the requirement to consider local resident's needs is all well and good, but I'm sure most locals would agree to a shift time of 8-m-6.30/7pm if it meant works could be finished sooner.

Shelley Wright On the plus side, nae chance of getting a ticket with the new 20mph speed limit #CouncilBedlam

Ali Whitwell Beautiful roundabout. Great for the tourists to appreciate.
