ENJOY ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY, FUN, FREE FEASTING THIS SUNDAY

Green-fingered and/or community-minded and/or hungry-but-cheap Broughtonians are going to enjoy this Sunday.

From 11am–1pm, Greener Leith are organising a spring-clean of cycle paths near St Mark's Park and the weir below Redbraes. Toshiba Medical Visualisation Systems staff will be lending a hand (presumably imagining the worst that could happen), and the Council have promised state-of-the-art litter-pickers, gloves and bags.

From 12.30pm, free lunches for volunteers will be available, prepared by Out of the Blue and sponsored by Leith decides.

Time for a short nap in the shade of a blossom-heavy cherry tree, serenaded by the hum of bees and the sun-soaked songs of cicadas. 

Then it's off again, this time into the tranquil heart of the bustling metropolis where, from 11am–3pm, locals can tuck into 'refreshments' whilst borrowing more tools and gloves to tidy the Barony Community Garden (see map below). There will be planting. 

Under-16s should be accompanied by an adult.
