FOX NEWS FOR BROUGHTON – SEASONAL SNAPSHOT 23

Submitted by Editor on

When it comes to Christmas foxes, Broughton Street struggles to compete with Jay Perkins’s Christmas lightshow this year.

The Tulsa, Texas resident ‘choreographed’ over 25,000 lights to the tune of ‘The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)’ by Yvlis, and posted the result on YouTube on 14 December. Since then it has been viewed by nearly 600,000 people. You can join the trend here.

However, we do have foxes of our own.

The fox in a bottle pictured right appears in Life Story, and is by the shop’s owner Fee Storey. Other animals in other bottles are also available.

Below is Charlotte Duffy’s take in recycled cardboard. It appears on the wall in Concrete Wardrobe (Breaking news, 19.12.13).

Next, continuing this winter’s unexpected taxidermy theme in the neighbourhood, a stuffed specimen is visible through the window of Den of Iniquity.

Finally, two examples grace the premises of Curiouser and Curiouser. The first – a rather long-suffering mother with two cubs – is by Lush Designs and comes in various forms, including as a cushion.

The second – a festive couple and friends wishing passersby a ’Foxy Christmas’ from the window – is the work of London-based Scots artist Donna Wilson.

Spurtle has a long-running interest in our local foxes. We last reported on them in Issue 215 and Breaking news, 12.4.13.

Not to forget the garden (Broughton Road!)

Or the allotment (Warriston).
