BROCK RETAINS EDINBURGH NORTH & LEITH

The SNP’s Deidre Brock was returned to Parliament with a reduced majority in yesterday’s General Election.

The Liberal Democrats’ share of the vote was marginally down (by 55 votes).

Across the city, Tommy Sheppard retained Edinburgh East for the SNP,  as did Joanna Cherry in Edinburgh South-West and Ian Murray for Labour in Edinburgh South. Christine Jardine took Edinburgh West from the SNP for the Liberal Democrats.

The SNP hung on in Livingston, but Labour took seats from them in East Lothian and Midlothian.
