HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Submitted by Editor on

Spurtle rose bright and early today, and embarked upon 2014 with the customary clear head and clean conscience.

We recorded our brisk constitutional using a camera, and now present some of the more focused, random impressions of Broughton the morning after the night before.

Readers will be pleased to hear we will not include the image of three crows arguing over a pool of sick.

We began with the happy rediscovery of a lost mitten. Now to find the child who went with it.

Broughton Street can occasionally be a little confusing.

Some people seemed to find the slope a bit severe and too spirally ...

whilst others didn’t have a care in the world or a moment’s consideration for passers-by without sunglasses.

On Calton Hill, a few folk showed signs of tipsiness.

Now that the celebrations are over,

for many, this is a time for considering ...

small details perhaps ...

or the bigger picture ...

for thinking again about past achievements ...

and the long road ...

to an uncertain future, shared and full of promise.
