IAIN McGILL IN HIS OWN WORDS

Submitted by Editor on

All candidates invited to our hustings next week have also been invited to provide a short written introduction to themselves.

Latest to respond is Iain McGill (Conservative), whose words we reprint in full below.

*****

The Conservative candidate is local-boy-done-good Iain McGill.

Living around the corner from tonight’s hustings, and having been schooled across the road at Drummond CHS, Iain knows the local area inside out.

A well-known local campaigner, this is not his first time representing the Conservatives here at an election.

A long-standing member of the Community Council, he has been involved with several local charities including the Homeless Word Cup and The Yard.

After six leaders in nine years, Labour have barely landed a glove on the SNP.

Our Edinburgh Central candidate Ruth Davidson is leading the charge to:

  • provide an effective opposition
  • fight to stop any second referendum
  • stop Scotland becoming the most highly taxed part of the UK.

Locally, Iain’s priorities are ensuring Holyrood and City of Edinburgh Council address the rise in rough sleeping in Edinburgh, and ensuring the Council meet their obligations to our most vulnerable who are being denied their full right to Self-Directed Support.

Contact Iain at: iain.mcgill@scottishconservatives.com on his Twitter ‪@iainmcgill or at the Conservative office on 67 Northumberland Street.
