INAUGURAL NEW TOWN ART MONTH LAUNCHES NEXT WEEK

The inaugural New Town Art Month will run from 7 to 24 June in 11 venues across Edinburgh’s ‘incredible art quarter’.

The map below shows you who and where they are.

Launched and led by Chloé Nelkin Consulting, NTAM promises paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, ceramics and bronze editions highlighting the work of international and home-grown Scottish artists alongside prodigious emerging talent.

Free tickets are also available here for special events:

  • ‘Launch’: Choose your start-point and visit as many participating venues as you wish. There may be refreshments – 6–8pm, 7 June
  • ‘Live Painting’: Artists will sit, allowing gallery visitors the rare opportunity to observe their artistic process live and in-person – Watson Gallery, 12pm–3pm, 10 and 24 June
  • ‘Artist Talk’: An informal Q&A with Scottish artist Francis Priest – & Gallery, 3pm, 10 June
  • ‘Director’s Welcome’: A talk by The Scottish Gallery MD Christina Jansen – The Scottish Gallery 5pm, 14 June
  • ‘In Conversation’: Open Eye Gallery’s Artistic Director Michelle Foster talks to artist Ffiona Lewis – Open Eye Gallery, 2pm, 15 June
  • ‘Artist in Residence Drop-In’: See Linda Park at work and discuss the commission process, Atelier Gallery, 2pm, 16 June
  • ‘On Bronze Casting’: Kerry Hammond, one of the directors of Powderhall Bronze fine art foundry, will discuss the technique of lost wax casting – Powderhall Bronze Editions, 7pm
