JURASSIC PARKED

Submitted by Editor on

Spurtle was pleasantly surprised by this addition to the Bellevue Crescent streetscape earlier today.

It offered a refreshing change to the ranks of black Mercedes, Jags and New Town tractors normally found across this part of town.

Was it, we wondered, the first in a fashion for sober judges going jungly in the world of youth culture? Or just a single rogue banker, releasing his inner velociraptor?

Cheap and cheerful

Closer inspection revealed the vehicle to be a cosy campervan, one of a fleet of mobile homes-from-home available to rent across the UK, Germany, Holland, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Ireland.

Wicked Campers are, says the online blurb, ‘cheap price, reliable, safe and no frills’. They offer bijou accommodation anywhere, and are ideal for those carefree roadtrips to football tournaments where local hotel rooms can be expensive.

Each comes with a micro-kitchen, 2, 3 and 5-berth options, and an ‘epic paintjob’. Those we’ve seen online have been themed with ‘Guns n Roses’, ‘Brave New World’, ‘Meat Puppet’, ‘Grow Dope’, ‘Live Hip Hop’, ‘Just Married’, ‘Puff the Magic Dragon’, ‘Dennis the Menace’, ‘Ghost Busters’ and ‘Nuns with Guns’ liveries, to name but a few.

All of them would brighten a dreary old palace front on a wet summer’s day.

We look forward to seeing many more of them over the Festival.

@theSpurtle You can also, apparently, park up and camp outside the parliament, light fires, start a garden... and no one will stop you.
