KEEPING IT REAL

Submitted by Editor on

One of the things we like about living in this part of Edinburgh is that you don’t have to conform.

Doing your own thing is positively encouraged.

And as evidence of this, we cite (and applaud) the way the beany people at Artisan Roast regularly encourage us to wake up and smell the coffee, to mix our metaphors, and swim against the tide of history …

while we still can.

Sometimes, we are struck by a startlingly original take on the world, as here this afternoon on Regent Road.

And then sometimes we are disappointed almost immediately to find it repeated on the home page of Instagram.

‘Rust’, when it’s not Fe2O3.nH2O, is also a programming language and a survival video game currently being developed by Wallsall-based Facepunch Studios. We're not sure which, if any, of these three possibilities is behind the Regent Road surprise.

One of the things we don’t like about living in this part of Edinburgh is apparently quirky graffiti that turns out to be viral marketing.
