Edinburgh’s Household Waste and Recycling Centres will reopen on Monday 1 June on an appointment-only basis.

Items will initially be restricted to those which cannot safely be stored at home.

You can book your slot (one per household) here from this afternoon.

Officials predict initial high demand and queuing. Seafield will operate using the Fillyside entrance.

Special uplifts (up to 5 items per household, £5 per item) will also restart on 1 June. Bookings will be accepted from this afternoon. Expect to wait for your appointment.

Bookings for both services cannot be made over the phone.

To begin with, only cars will be accepted on-site – no vans or trailers. Staff will not help you unload.

Under the circumstances, visiting a recycling centre will not constitute an educational and fun day out for all the family.
