SOFT FURNISHER SITS TIGHT

Submitted by Editor on

On Friday we reported one local shop’s foray into political satire with its addition of a tongue-in-cheek remark to an otherwise fairly uncontroversial cushion.

The comment was not universally popular among pro-Union customers and passing monarchists (Breaking news, 1.8.14).

Now, the standard advice under such circumstances is: ‘When in a hole, stop digging.’ This Broughton retailer is made of sterner stuff, though, and  prefers to ‘Keep calm and carry on.’

The latest slightly distressed addition to the window display is shown below.

Combining a Scottish Saltire-free Union Flag with a swipe at the leader of the Better Together campaign, it seems certain to provoke further lively responses from those for whom the nation's sofas are at the front line of political discourse.
