SPURTLESHIRE STARS IN VICTORIAN DRAMA

Submitted by Editor on

Apple TV returned to the New Town last month to film scenes for Season 3 of its hit period drama The Buccaneers.

Inspired by Edith Wharton's unfinished novel of the same name, the story follows wealthy American women attempting to infiltrate high society in Victorian London.

The Council approved road closures for Circus Lane, Royal Circus, St Vincent and Cumberland Streets, with production taking over local shops for several days.

Sequences for the series (codenamed The Debutantes’ during production) were shot in and around St Stephen’s Theatre, with locals spotting horse-drawn carriages, flower stalls, produce carts and period signage on shopfronts.

In previous seasons, Apple TV has also used locations in Drummond Place and Northumberland Street, and Broughton St Mary's locations for interior and exterior shots on Bellevue Crescent (Issue 334).

With filming over, high-society life can now return to normal in EH3. No release date has been announced yet for TV’s latest social season, but we understand it will be in early 2027.—Hannah Muir
