Two men have been assaulted and robbed in what Police say may be related incidents. Both incidents happened last night, and whilst neither victim was injured they were both left shaken.

The first robbery occurred in Montgomery Street at around 9.45pm. A man in his twenties was approached by two others who stole his MP3 and mobile phone before heading towards Leith Walk.

At 10.20pm, another young man in his twenties was followed onto an Elm Row stair, forced to the floor and robbed of cash and a bank card.

The suspects in both cases were similarly described. The first man was white, about 6ft tall, spiky-haired and with a facial scar. He wore a t-shirt and jeans, and had a tattoo on his arm. The second man was slightly smaller, with short dark hair, and was wearing jeans.

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity 0800 555 111.

The events follow another serious and unprovoked attack between 3am and 4am on Sunday 29 May. A 33-year-old man was the victim of an unprovoked punch in the face by one of four males who approached him on the south side of Leopold Place as he walked towards London Road.

Having fallen backwards, the victim hit his head on the pavement and was left severely injured.
