A report issued by the Council's Tram Communication Team detailing local progress contains mixed tidings and loose ends.
The paper displays Action Points agreed with the New Town and Broughton Community Council after last month's emergency meeting to discuss tramworks and diversions (Breaking news, 8.8.12).
Disappointingly, the estimated 5-week period to complete work on the 'Princes Street plug' has slipped: work could now continue until late September.
Only then will Broughton Street fully reopen to northbound traffic, with lights being installed at the Albany Street junction. These lights will be particularly welcomed by pedestrians, who have had trouble crossing the road here recently.
There have been no developments yet in the quest to find alternative parking for Albany Street residents.
More encouragingly, new 20mph advisory roundels and notices are to be installed in the first week of September. Radar analysis has so far indicated speeds of about 24mph along the New Town diversion route.
The full report appears below, and will be discussed at the next meeting of the New Town and Broughton Community Council on Monday 3 September (7.30pm, Broughton St Mary's Parish Church). You can find the Agenda at Extras (31.8.12).
