As you read this, advance copies of the May Spurtle (Issue 339) are already filtering across the barony like birch pollen from the nose of a violently sneezing hayfever sufferer.

We begin on Page 1 with a metaphorically mauled lion and some hypothetically possible but pricey play equipment. We have also a shift in boundary benefits and the post-industrial aesthetic of an appropriate typology mix.

As part of celebrations to mark its 200th anniversary, Broughton St Mary's Parish Church will host a free-to-attend concert at 7.30pm on Friday 26 April.

Organisers promise 'an unforgettable evening filled with beautiful music and special performances' from the Cadenza Choir, Laid-Back Community Choir and Broughton St Mary's Choir.

What’s going on at No 62 Raeburn Place?

Only a few weeks after opening in the lavishly refurbished former premises of Corson’s the ironmongers, the Stockroom deli (‘for foodies by foodies’) suddenly and mysteriously shut up shop.  

No explanatory notice has been posted in the window, and some two months’ unopened mail piles up inside the front door.
