The spate of Bellevue burglaries is serious enough, but not as extensive as reports by locals first suggested.
Police have now confirmed that they are investigating 4 break-ins which happened in the area over Friday and Saturday.
Properties in Spey Terrace and Balfour Street were broken into late on Friday afternoon, while another property in McDonald Road was burgled early on Saturday morning. Another break-in happened in McDonald Place on Saturday at around 5.30pm.
Goods worth about £2,500 were stolen, and police are following up several lines of inquiry.
'Anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the areas where the break-ins took place should contact police immediately,' a police spokesman told Spurtle. 'Likewise, anyone who suspects that they have been offered stolen goods for sale should also get in touch.
'At this time we would like to remind people of the importance of ensuring their homes are secure while unoccupied, by making sure that all windows and doors are securely locked, preferably with a mortice lock for added security.'
