BROUGHTON PRIMARY WINS GREEN FLAG AWARD

Submitted by Editor on

A P7 pupil writes: Broughton Primary School has won an award called the 'Green Flag' from the evironmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.

The award is given to schools which make an effort to improve the environment, keep the school tidy and save resources.

Broughton has been trying hard to get this award for many years and had already won the Bronze and Silver awards.

The Green Flag is currently hanging up in Broughton’s stairwell in place of the EU flag that used to be there. Each class has a different eco job and does things like composting and recycling.

Speaking recently about the Green Flag award, Dr Alasdair Allan MSP (Scottish Government Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages) said: 'Creating an awareness and understanding of environmental and global issues helps our children and young people develop as responsible global citizens.'
