BROUGHTON STARS AS 'UNDERBELLY'

Submitted by Editor on

Stephen Fry was spotted (distantly) in Broughton Place yesterday, filming scenes for a new feature drama, Doors Open, based on the story by crime novelist Ian Rankin.

Cast and crew spent most of the day inside the Lyon & Turnbull building (famously used for locations in Chariots of Fire), before briefly filming a short scene outside in the early evening sunshine.

Doors Open – also starring Douglas Henshall and Kenneth Collard – tells the story of 'a self-made millionaire, an art professor and a banker who swap priceless art with forgeries and make off with the goods'. It is essentially a 'heist' story with love interest, multiple plot twists and a sense of humour. It is, apparently, set in 'the underbelly of Edinburgh's world of corporate banking and fine art'.

Directed by Marc Evans, it is a Sprout Pictures production due for release on ITV later this year. Filming began in Edinburgh on 23 April and was scheduled to last 5 weeks.
