Beaverhall Art Studios are welcoming visitors today with masses of original works to be seen and many pre-Christmas bargains on sale.
Since 2012, the first and second floors of the former Duncan’s Chocolate Factory (the red brick building with the distinctive Egyptian-themed fresco) on Beaverhall Road have housed a a vibrant blend of painters, ceramicists, sculptors, photographers, illustrators, textile and fashion designers, jewellers and small charitable organisations.
It’s a heady and thoroughly enjoyable mix.
Personal favourites today included … beautiful and practical glassware by Jane Raven

and Ana Wright’s cushioned flamingos.

Chris Donnelly’s unfussy handmade tiles and bowls appealed
![](/sites/default/files/IMG_4297.jpg)
as did these intriguing landscapes by Fiona Thompson.

I’m not entirely sure what cabinet maker Michael Mochrie’s piece is for (filing doves?) but I love it.

Sally-Ann Provan’s hats are always fascinating
![](/sites/default/files/IMG_4305.jpg)
and so is Susie Wright’s ability to veer from the very small
![](/sites/default/files/IMG_4308.jpg)
to the large and rather imposing.

We'd like to see more of these events – perhaps a show could be arranged in early summer? For the timebeing, though, the studios will remain open today until 6.00pm – entry is free.—AM
