ISSUE 229 – OUT SOON!

Submitted by Editor on

Too hot?

Fear not! Issue 229 has been designed in Italy to fold easily into a convenient and accurately spelt micro-bikini, sun hat or protective solar goggles. Feel cooler, more attractive, and part of the beautiful in-crowd out and about across Broughton from tomorrow.

First, though, you'll probably want to read it. We have news of a landslide and looming new development, a stunning hymn to the sun and celebrations out of the blue. We've got a cherry tree, exciting gas, sewerage developments, statistical snapshots, fanlights, irritating displays, exciting parades, two kinds of poetry, bollards, a creaky gate (more power to its elbow), food awards, triumphant scouts, summer fairs, printmakers on the hoof, craft markets, spuds around the clock, bad signage and – sadly – two obits of recently deceased eminent locals.

All this and more is yours for £0.00 from clubs, pubs, eateries, newsagents, galleries, libraries, church vestibules, bike shops, hair salons, greengrocers, beauticians, upholsterers, paddle-purveyors and other mysterious but less visited corners of the buzziest barony in Embo.

Alternatively, you can download a 4-colour pdf from our Home page first thing in the morning.

If you'd like to write for the Spurtle – online at almost length, or in print, making every word count – we'd love to hear from you. We’re always interested in local news, gossip, events, reviews, opinions, artwork and photos, and gratefully accept readers’ suggestions for what we should be covering next. We could also always do with additional spring-heeled individuals willing to deliver copies hither and yon for an hour or so once a month.

Whatever your lack of interest or free time, come and get involved. You can contact us either by email: spurtle@hotmail.co.uk or Tel. 556 4848.
