ISSUE 359 — OUT SOON!

Submitted by Editor on

As you read this, advance copies of the March Spurtle are already spreading across the barony like potholes fleeing a Council roadmender in advance of the budget deadline.

Issue 359 starts with news of an appeal, continues with calls for better signage, and concludes with a dodo and voters on floaters.

On Page 2 we hear more rumblings along Broughton Road, consider the love life of rats, and examine a large slice of fudge in St James Square. Also featured are a bad case of battery, slow progress on active travel, and the vexed question of whether lovable Leith is sometimes too much of a good thing.

Dundas Street looms large on Page 3, as do East Claremont Street calm and an unconnected joined-up approach to curbing rogue landlords. We cover an interesting development for crafty covens, take a trip to Stockbridge and beam sceptically at the optimism of Trams to Newhaven’s top snag-busters.

As Page 4 brings matters to a close, we bid farewell to an old friend on E Scotland St Lane again. There are mixed views on Calton Hill, sighs of relief on Queen St and grunts of vexation in Gayfield Square, all wrapped up with the news which everyone has been waiting for …

The date of Spurtle’s Edinburgh North Eastern and Leith Holyrood elections hustings.

Do not be alarmed! We had so much news this month that the paper occasionally creaks under the weight of black ink. Take care picking up your copy from any of the usual outlets across Broughton and beyond: shops, pubs, cafés, libraries and plastic railing-dispensers everywhere.

Alternatively, download a colourful pdf from our website here on Sunday.
