LEITH FESTIVAL PROGRAMME ANNOUNCED

Leith Festival – the annual community-arts celebration of Leith’s heritage, current diversity and future – will run from 10–19 June. The online Box Office opens for bookings next week on Monday 23 May (www.leithfestival.com).

Over 100 events will explore theatre, dance and performance, comedy, music, visual art, walks / talks / open doors, literature, film, sport, youth and community.

It all opens with dance and song at the Kirkgate Shopping Centre on 10 June, 7–9pm. The popular Gala Day follows in Leith Links the next day.

Venues more or less in Broughton this year are:

  • 20. Los Cardos (281 Leith Walk): Photo exhibition of American parades (10–19 June)
  • 22. McNaughton's Bookshop (3a–4a Haddington Place): Exhibition of paintings (10–11, 14–18 June);
  • 26. Pilrig St Paul's Church (Pilrig Street): Live youth choirs concert (19 June); Question Time (invited panel) – 'Making Leith into a paradise for children' (14 June); Music – Jump Press A and Epic 26 + guests (18 June)
  • 41. Out of the Blue Drill Hall (Dalmeny Street): Tour of artists' studios, 10–19 June; Art of Leith (7–11, 13–17 June); Live music and brunch (11 June); Flea market (18 June); 'Next in Line' (drama) (16–18 June)
  • 48. The Yard (2 Bonnington Road Lane): 'Blood Brothers' (drama) (16–18 June);  'Gosforth's Fete' and 'Streuth' (2 one-act comedy dramas) (16–18 June)
  • 52. White Space (11 Gayfield Square): 'Doors Close, they Never Lock' (drama) (10–11 June).
