MOIST ENJOYABLE

Submitted by Editor on

Yesterday and today, St Andrew Square has played host to Spa in the City – a weekend of free taster beauty treatments from Edinburgh's allegedly 'top beauty retailers, specialists and luxury spas'. In tents.

Spa: 1. A town, locality or resort possessing a mineral spring or springs; a watering-place of this kind. 2. A commercial establishment offering health or beauty treatments.

The photo above shows the scene, with the Harvey Nichol's tent front right. It was taken at 3.45pm. Look at that sky.

Summer: 1. The second and warmest season of the year, coming between spring and autumn. 2. Applied with qualification, to a period of fine dry weather.

The photo below of George Street was taken from beneath a tree at 3.50pm.

The photo below is again of the Harvey Nichol's tent. It was taken at 3.55pm. Staff and potential customers were separated by a moat with no drawbridge. Event wranglers speedily applied a pump, which appeared to keep the water from rising. However, further intense downpours followed.

Wash-out: 1. The removal by flood of a portion of hillside; a hole or breach in a railway or road track caused by flood or erosion.  2. slang A disappointing failure.
