NEW SEASON IN SIGHT FOR DRUMMOND TENNIS CLUB

Submitted by Editor on

Welcome to potentially the best clay courts north of Roland-Garros!

Resurfacing (as you can see below) has already started, and if the good weather continues the lines may be in place by the end of the month.

Drummond Tennis Club offers a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to play tennis on what is regarded as the best surface for the game.

Sophie Blake is the resident tennis coach and is held in high esteem within the club.

Alistair Stiven – our current club champion – also offers a service as a hitting partner. He is currently working hard for his coaching badges, so he’s also able to pass on some very useful tips.

The club has a good social side, which is run by none other than The Woman Who Ate Scotland, Nell Nelson. There’s always a warm welcome, and, usually on Friday club nights, there may be the odd cold beer available so you can easily forget about the double faults.

An open night will take place on Friday 29 April, when potential new members can come along and meet the committee, have a hit, and enjoy a relaxing social evening.

So if you’d like to play tennis at Edinburgh’s clay court Mecca then look on our website and check out the details.—Mark Fergie
