Larry Hutchison has been visiting the Christian Aid Book Sale since it first began in the early 1970s, writes Julia Forsyth, one of the organisers of the event.
He first stumbled upon the sale almost by accident. He remembers Edinburgh back in the ’70s as a city full of second-hand bookshops. He has been a book trader and bibliophile all his working life, so would often come into the city seeking treasures in the form of books and ephemera.
Local basketball players are crowdfunding to upgrade the popular court in the grounds of Drummond Community High School.
They’re motivated in part by a desire to upgrade dated hoops (currently at the wrong height) and replace concrete with tarmac.
A Zoom workshop to help local charities, volunteer organisations, and community projects access funds from the People’s Postcode Lottery takes place tomorrow at 10.00am.
The session is free, and is open to groups based in the Edinburgh North & Leith constituency.
