CARE WITH A CARD AT CHRISTMAS

Submitted by Editor on

Vintage Vibes is an Edinburgh-based charitable project offering one-to-one friendships, support and companionship to Edinburgh’s over-60s.

It tackles isolation and loneliness by keeping its ‘VIPs’ socially connected and active in their local communities. Close to Spurtleshire, it operates from LifeCare Edinburgh at 2 Cheyne Street in Stockbridge, and three businesses in the area currently support it: Dragonfly on Broughton Street, One20 on Dundas Street, and The Beauty Boutique by Victoria on St Stephen Street.

LOCAL RESIDENT ON TREK FOR CRISIS

My name is Jamie Forbes and I live on East London Street.

I work for Lloyds Banking Group and I am raising funds for our charity partner – Crisis. Crisis are the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. They help people directly out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether.

AWAY FOR THE MESSAGES

Submitted by Editor on

The Living Memory Association, based at Ocean Terminal, has recently been given a Heritage Fund award, writes project worker Russell Clegg. We’re using it to start a new reminiscence project – ‘Away for the Messages’ – on shops and retail history in and around Edinburgh.

We are looking for folk to contribute their stories, lived experiences and indeed photos and shop-based ephemera to the project (we can scan these and include in our current exhibition).
