BROUGHTON KNEES AND A NORWEGIAN KILT TRIP

Submitted by Editor on

Twenty-two Scouts and six leaders (56 knees in total) from local troop Broughton St Mary's departed for their summer camp in Stavanger, Norway today.

Flying from Edinburgh Airport, they arrive this evening to set up camp at the Norwegian International Scout Jamboree.

Held every two years, the Jamboree is home to 13,000 Scouts from twenty-three nations over ten days. The Broughton Scouts will experience an overnight expedition, water sports, a hike around the fjords, international exchange, cooking on open fires, and camping under canvas.

Scout Leader Scott Richards (second from right, below) said before departing:

‘We aim to give the Scouts an international camp every two years, and we're all very excited to be visiting Norway for the first time in the group's history.

‘I'd like to thank our fundraising committee for their hard work and generous donation to costs, permitting the whole troop to go to camp.’
