200th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT

As part of celebrations to mark its 200th anniversary, Broughton St Mary's Parish Church will host a free-to-attend concert at 7.30pm on Friday 26 April.

Organisers promise 'an unforgettable evening filled with beautiful music and special performances' from the Cadenza Choir, Laid-Back Community Choir and Broughton St Mary's Choir.

STAFFORD CENTRE SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

The Stafford Centre, on Broughton Street, is looking for two new volunteers in its work with people living in the Edinburgh area who experience mental-health difficulties.

Managed by Support in Mind Scotland, the aim of this local resource is to help people manage their mental health, gain greater self-confidence and become more integrated within the community.

There are two roles needing filled. 

LONG DROP AND A SHORTFALL

The sight of workers swinging from the tower of Broughton St Mary’s is enough to make anyone queasy.

Imagine how much worse you’d feel if you were responsible for the cost of repairs and someone told you it would be £80,000 more than you’d originally budgeted for.

That’s the alarming position now facing those responsible for the familiar and much-loved 200-year-old structure at the centre of Spurtleshire.
