ISSUE 340 – OUT SOON!

Submitted by Editor on

As you read this, advance copies of the June Spurtle are already spreading across Broughton like crytospiridium through the lower digestive tract of an unsuspecting Devon holidaymaker.

For those who enjoy Edinburgh journalism and watery diarrhoea, local politics and abdominal pain, fever, occasional dizziness and dollops of local gossip, this is good news.

Page 1 begins with a square peg in a round hole (refused), deep breaths, the wide blue yonder and high hopes. Also fearsome drops for unfortunate drivers.

On Page 2 we consider flowers, front doors and a sinister development on Leith Walk. Also things which get in the way, things which potentially disturb, things which slow down, and things which seek change without ever quite clarifying what they're going on about. Gayfield Square locals are on the alert.

Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme do not feature on Page 3. Almost everything else does. Also rust. And historic fumes. And bars and buses and bull and Council travails due to too few staff.

Relax on Page 4. We bring you nice smells. Then enervate you with news of struggles against the patriarchy, a guesthouse extension, and horrible habits of occasional sky-watchers.

In short, Issue 2024 is bubbling fit to burst with hyperlocal news microbia. Copies are available from shops, bars, cafes, libraries, select railings and the occasional red telephone box across the barony and beyond.

Alternatively, download a colourful and rainproof pdf from our website HERE from midnight on 1 June.
