Scottish Fire & Rescue Service

Women and members of ethnic minorities are under-represented in the SFRS. Those interested in becoming firefighters are therefore invited to special information events providing an opportunity to talk to serving professiionals and try out some of the job's practical aspects. The women's session runs from 10:00–13:00; the ethnic minorities' session from 14:00–17:00.

Penny Mile Challenge

Water of Leith Conservation Trust hope to raise over £800 by laying 80,000 pennies side by side along a mile or so of the river from the WoLCT Visitor Centre in Slateford. Bring a jar of pennies for free entry into games and activities.

Place exhibition

The free  ‘Place’ exhibitions – Place: Rediscovery, Place: Analysis and Place: Displaced – are three exhibitions created by third-year Edinburgh Napier University photography students. The work questions place as an idea, challenged, altered, demarcated and purely imagined. The photographers conduct detailed analyses of place through geography, history, social structure, religion, physicality and tangibility.
