SERIOUS ASSAULT – POLICE RELEASE CCTV IMAGE

Police Scotland issued the following press release this morning. We reproduce it below unedited and in full.

Officers in Edinburgh have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries following a serious assault which took place in the Forth Street area around 9.50pm on Monday 7 June 2021.  As a result of the incident a man required hospital treatment.

Macgregor writes: The lecture by Judge Brown on Tuesday night on the housing of the Edinburgh poor has drawn attention to the condition of affairs in Greenside, and though it might perhaps be urged that the dark shadows in Judge Brown’s description are a trifle overdrawn, it will not be denied by anyone who knows the district that there is urgent need of improvement.

CCTV APPEAL AFTER GREENSIDE PLACE ASSAULT

Police in Edinburgh have released images of a woman they believe may have information that will assist an investigation into an incident which occurred on Greenside Place, Edinburgh, on Saturday, 7 December, 2019. During the incident, a man was assaulted.

The woman in the images is described as white, around 5 ft 8 ins, slim build with black shoulder length hair. She is wearing a black jacked, checked scarf and blue denim jeans.

TWO LOCAL ROBBERIES – POLICE SEEK WITNESSES

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for information after two robbery related incidents happened in two convenience stores on Saturday, 4 July.

The first incident happened around 5.45pm at the Best One store on Bonnington Road. The suspect threatened the shop keeper with a knife and demanded money from the till. The shop keeper challenged the suspect who then left.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY NEAR GAYFIELD SQUARE

Detectives are continuing their enquiries and appealing for information after two men attempted to rob a man in Edinburgh on Friday, 12 June, 2020.

Around 3.45pm on Friday afternoon, the two suspects approached a 66 year-old man near to Gayfield Square in Edinburgh. They threatened him with a knife and demanded money. The victim refused and the men walked off.

MAN ATTACKED NEAR LOCAL PARK

POLICE SEEK WITNESSES

Police seek witnesses after a man was assaulted near King George V Park at around 2pm on Saturday 25 April.

The victim was verbally abused in the park by 4 men, who accused him of taking their photograph. They followed him through the Rodney Street tunnel, continuing to shout, before demanding money, then racially abusing and assaulting him at the Tesco end.

They ran off through the tunnel when Tesco staff came to the victim’s aid.
